Announcing the Contendo Server Release 2024.4

We are happy to announce the launch of Contendo Server Release 2024.4! While the release arrived slightly later than anticipated, we’re excited to share the latest updates and milestones. As we move forward, there are a few key updates that are worth noting:

Our Focus Moving Forward

The 2024.4 release marks an important moment for Contendo Server. We’ve achieved two long-term goals, which will guide our priorities in the months ahead:

Full-time Development

Until now, much of the work on Contendo has been done outside of regular business hours. This shift means we can now dedicate more time and resources to advancing Contendo Server.

Key Focus Areas

  • Marketing
  • Sales
  • Documentation
  • New Feature Development

Additionally, we’re excited to finalize updates to our website design and branding elements, which will be available soon.

What’s New in 2024.4?

Here’s a breakdown of the key enhancements in this release:

1. Bugfixes

It might sound simple, but yes, we do address bugs. As always, our focus is on ensuring a smooth and reliable experience for our users.

2. Dedicated Login/Logout Endpoints

To enhance the usability of Contendo Server for browser-based applications, we’ve introduced two new endpoints:

  • Login: This endpoint allows for the acquisition of the LtpaToken2 cookie, which can then be used for subsequent Contendo Server requests.
  • Logout: This endpoint removes the LtpaToken2 cookie, effectively logging out the user.

These changes standardize and simplify user authentication and session management.

3. Physical Separation Between Repositories

We’ve implemented a dedicated object store for each CMIS repository. This update enables the creation of repository-specific indices based on selected property, improving performance when dealing with complex data structures. On-the-fly indexing is now possible, enhancing CMIS Query performance considerably.

4. CMIS Query Optimizations

We’ve focused on performance improvements for CMIS queries, especially when handling large datasets. We’ve addressed edge cases, such as those with no real object hierarchy, ensuring faster and more efficient queries – even when spanning millions of objects.

5. Web CLI (Draft Mode)

This release also introduces a basic web-based CLI tool for administering Contendo Server. It utilizes all admin API endpoints and the CMIS Query tool. This feature is still in its early stages, so stay tuned for further updates as we refine and expand its functionality.

We are excited about the progress we’ve made and the direction Contendo Server is heading. Keep an eye out for more updates as we continue to enhance the platform in the coming months.
